After our hardest selection process yet (we had to let go many poets who we really loved) we finally settled on five outstanding poets for our shortlist.

We’ll be posting individual films and poetry snippets from each of our shortlisted poets over the coming month.

We’ll be announcing who we’ve chosen on Wednesday 19th November.

PS: Our new reading window is already up and running - from October this year to March next year. The poet we choose from this submission period will be published in November 2026.

PPS: For anyone who has not been published in collection form previously, we’ll also be re-considering all submissions from this calendar year and, in early January 2026, we’ll choose our favourite from this category, for publication next July. (This opportunity is open to anyone who qualifies and submits before the end of December this year. )

We’re about to send files to our printers to produce printed proofs of our latest publication - an exciting project from the pen (and pencil) of Christopher James, past winner of the National Poetry Prize and the Bridport Prize.

‘The Ice Sonnets’ is a unique blend of sonnets and artwork, depicting each crew member from Shackleton’s ill-fated, but ultimately heroic and glorious, Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition, 1914-17.

Our next cut-off for submissions will be the end of March 2026, at which point we will select our longlist for this reading period. We'll announce our shortlist of five poets by mid-April, one of whom will be published in November next year.

NEW!! Due to our desire to give a voice to previously unpublished poets, we now operate a further cut-off at the end of each calendar year. We will choose the best previously-unpublished poet from all the submissions each year for publication in the following Summer. See our submissions page for more details on this. Anyone who submits to us in 2025, and meets our criteria, will be considered for this publication slot.
