The Ice Sonnets
The Ice Sonnets, by National Poetry Competition winner Christopher James, charts Sir Ernest Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914-17) in poetry and pencil sketches - one for each crew member on the two ships involved. Fraught with danger, the expedition was daring and the men faced challenges for which they were unprepared.
The Ice Sonnets tells the story of not one, but two great escapes, and pays homage to the heroism and resilience of the crews, struggling to survive in life-threatening conditions. Find out more here.
